We love working with Chiselwood Kitchens, they really know how to master drama within kitchen design and create some of the most amazing spaces. Chiselwood who are a UK based company and make everything in-house, likewise, love the fact that our lights are also hand crafted and locally made. Pictured opposite, the owners of this property wanted to respect the period features of the rooms in their home that included panelling, window shutters, original fireplaces and beautiful plaster detailing on high ceilings. Chiselwood Kitchens designer, Martin Holliday, responded to this brief perfectly, by keeping all the original features but also designing a family friendly but majestic dining and kitchen area.
The twin central islands in the kitchen space are key elements of the design which not only serve as practical worktops but also differentiate the kitchen from the dining. Martin wanted bold use of colour for this design and chose lighting from Curiousa. Picking up on the golden hues of the brass fittings and edging, they commissioned ten of our Stemmed Round lights, blown in Yellow Ochre with Smoked Olive that contrasted wonderfully with the teal colouring of the upholstery and feature painted cabinets elsewhere in the kitchen’s design.
The space is huge and beyond the main kitchen the dining area features a bespoke table – designed specially by Martin for this project and it was handcrafted in-house by the Chiselwood team. Again our hand blown glass lights hang high over this fantastic dining space. Martin needed something dramatic to work in this vast area so he chose five Lotus Dine Lights from our range. This light features a half meter hand lathed wooden disk above three layers of hand blown glass in Teal, Smoked Olive and Yellow Ochre.
Chiselwood love to work with old and new as in this project shown adjacent. A modern extension was built but the original rustic stone wall has been kept as a feature. Chiselwood designed the furniture and interior to complement the existing space. Then by adding our hand-blown stemmed round lights into the space – they sit well with the modern and the old, creating harmony and a colourful centre point.
This project opposite was a period home remodelled for modern living, resulting in a beautiful family kitchen. To create energy and uplift the space Chiselwood chose to hang not just three but seven of our Tor lights hand-blown in Teal. Each light isn’t overly large but by displaying them in numbers it certainly has the impact.
